Could BotCon be returning to California in 2014?
Hardcore fans don't wait for official word apparently. When wondering where BotCon would be held in 2014 some eager members of Seibertron and TFW2005 took it upon themselves to simply call the Pasadena Sheraton that hosted con-goers in 2013 and asked. Not only did they have BotCon booked for 2014, but they had the hotel room block ready and taking reservations now for June!
So why are fans so eager to get an early start on a convention that's so far off? Three very good reasons, actually. For starters 2014 is the 30th anniversary of the entire Transformers franchise which started way back in 1984 so you know Hasbro is going to be bringing all sorts of cool stuff to the con. Second, this year will also mark the 20th anniversary of BotCon which began in 1994 so they're expected to be bringing their A-game when it comes to exclusives, guests, and events. Third is this will also be held at the same time as the newly named Transformers 4: Age of Extinction movie lands in theaters so you can be sure they'll be doing something special with that. Beyond that Hasbro has a number of partner companies based in California so this is sure to be one heck of a celebration.
Now remember, Fun Publications (which runs BotCon) hasn't made the official announcement yet, but the stars seem pretty well aligned for this to be the real deal.

Otakon's Gunpla Builders World Cup results, one stop left
Last month, another stop was held on Bandai's Gunpla Builders World Cup. The stage was Otakon and modelers certainly stepped up their games. The Best of Show award went to James Michie and his Master Grade Hi-Nu Gundam, which will now make its to the GBWC finals.
Other winners included the Best Large Scale, a 1/100 Gundam Arios by Marco Salta, Best Small Scale, an HGUC EZ-8 by Mike Dzicek, Best Out of Box Large Scale went to Sophia Thomas and her MG Gundam Unicorn Banshee and Best Out of Box Small Scale went to Corey Scott's Musha Zero Gundam.
There's one last live spot for the GBWC, New York Comic Con in October. If you're unable to attend, you can still enter via the web at Bandai Hobby's site. I'm planning on my own entry for NYCC, but let's see if I can actually get it done this time.

Custom Delights: Task One's Rocky Rhino
So Task One has been hard at work on a new commission, and wouldn't you know it, it's a Battle Beast! Sort of: this is actually a custom 10-inch Jouwe decked out to looked like Rocky Rhino (a.k.a Graysharp over in Japan) of Battle Beasts fame, complete with his sword and mace hand. It looks pretty darn awesome, and the Jouwe is a natural fit for the style he was looking for.
Anyone out there digging Task's throwback to the past?
