Chara Hobby 2013: Banpresto

Banpresto were also present at Chara Hobby, so that can mean only one thing... Lots of Ichiban Kuji items!!

There were also some showings of their SQ figures line as well, with Saber and the Madoka Magica girls appearing and they're not looking too bad considering their price. And since they are SQ figures, they should be pretty cheap!

But the majority of their floorspace was taken up with Ichiban Kuji prizes, either available now or in the near future. Stalwarts are present in the shape of Bakemonogatari, Idom@ster and Nanoha figures but they weren't the only ones by any stretch. The Busou Shinki items caught my eye, especially the ones of Ines and Lene.Of course, Girls und Panzer had to be present as did Shingeki no Kyojin!

Macross Frontier will also be getting more figures in the shape of another set of prizes. The KyunChara figures look decent enough but what the heck is up with Sheryl? There's only 1 figure I have seen which I dislike so much that I swore I'd never buy one. Even for completions sake. This new figure looks like someone took the head of my hated Sheryl figure and stuck it on a new body and changed the hair a little! Hell, Ranka looks better in this set! That NEVER happens!!!

Reaction To The News of Ben Affleck as Batman

0
0

It's both funny (and sad) because it's completely true. Dang, I've never been more embarrassed about crybaby fan-boys until now! This direct over-reaction has happened at the announcement of every Actor who has ever played the character.

Back in 1989 a small group of people got together and sent Warner Bros a petition over the choice of Michael Keaton. Just recently, when it was announced that Heath Ledger was going to be the Joker in The Dark Knight movie, some people totally flipped-out! (He won an Oscar). I say hey, give Ben Affleck a chance. Wait until you see his performance and THEN make a judgement.

Hey, BATMAN Gets Spotted Everywhere!

Batman is everywhere. I mean, all over the place! Recently he was spotted with a very cool Bat-Pod Replica! The display even included some full-size mannequins and Superman was there as well. This all happened at the 2013 Connecticut Comiconn. I'm pretty sure that everybody at this local comic book convention totally freaked out! Thanks Dave for sharing the fun pic ( He owns this replica! ). Oh yeah, click on the photo up above for a larger, sharper version.

Then, on the south side of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (where I live) my good buddy Dave ( a different "Dave", but just as awesome! ) spotted this Bat-Truck and knew he HAD to get a photo! The Owner put a really nice Bat-Symbol Logo on the front grill, very very cool!! I wonder if he made it? (Thanks Dave #2).

OK, this is one of those posts done just for fun. Have YOU spotted Batman anywhere near where you live? If so, then please share a pic with us today. Our e-mail button is always at the top right-hand side of this blog. Thanks!

Disappointed Cat Has Good Taste in Games

Foo-Chan is the Internet’s latest feline phenom. He doesn’t just have a cute, disappointed face; he’s also got good taste in games. You can see the PlayStation Best edition of Katamari Damacy in the background of this shot, as well as a PS3 game, 360 game, DS games, and even a 360 console. That’s probably the only 360 in Japan.

BATMAN and SUPERMAN International Edition Comic Book Reference Photos

I wanted to share these pics because they're really neat to see. Plus, a Bat-Blog Fan, nick-named "Solarcadet", was nice enough to share them and that's very cool! He is an American Comic Book Collector who likes to focus on "International Editions" of key comics.

He has eight different variations on that classic BATMAN cover done by Neal Adams. Then, he has a few copies of SUPERMAN #300 (Wow! I had that comic book when I was a little kid, great to see again!).

Thanks Solarcadet, YOU ROCK!

Sexy ninja Psylocke gets Kotobukiya Fine Art statue

[UPDATE: Some pre-orders have opened]

Kotobukiya has released a photo gallery for its upcoming Fine Art X-Force Psylocke statue. Psylocke, a telepathic mutant ninja prominently associated with the X-teams, is depicted in her X-Force outfit.

The usually gorgeous femme fatale seems to feature the choice of either a psi-dagger that can be clipped onto her left arm or a second katana. While I really like the dynamic action-y pose, I'm not sure that I'm as fond of the sculpting. The hair almost seems too clumped together and Psylocke's breasts just don't seem as shapely as they're so often depicted (albeit this could conform to a more recent art style).

All the same, I still think Kotobukiya's Fine Art Psylocke statue looks great. For those more impressed than I am, this statue is slated to release in April.

Weekend To-Do List:  Watch: Wonder Showzen. I hope you guys...

Weekend To-Do List:

  1.  Watch: Wonder Showzen. I hope you guys remember this fucked up MTV 2 show. For those who don’t: Wonder Showzen is basically an adult show disguised as a children’s program. It’s racist, politically incorrect, vulgar, often bloody, goddamn raunchy. Best of all, it’s created by PFFR, which is the best comedy troupe for television programming ever assembled (they’re the team responsible for Delocated and Xavier: Renegade Angel as well). I got Season 1 on DVD from MovieStop for $15. Been speeding through it.
  2. Re-Read: The End of the Fucking World by Charles Forsman. I actually reviewed this comic book the other day, but it’s really dense with info on psychology involving youth. Super dark and I feel the need to re-visit it so soon.
  3. Go to: Total Bummer 4Ever. Total Bummer Fest is a four day long art/music festival in downtown Orlando that I’m attending. My clothing company, Hari Kari, will be in attendance to sell shirts. Real excited to see a lot of my friends at Relief in Abstract perform tonight, such as Out Go the Lights, XXYYXX, and Fortune Howl. It’s gonna be a fun night selling my t-shirts and seeing my friends sing their asses off! Also, that artwork is the sick posters that were created for the event.
  4. Buy: Veggies at the farmer’s market. I already did this three hours ago. It was something I had to do this morning and I’m including here since we usually publish to-do lists on Friday. Plus, I’m literally including it so there’s a photo of a zucchini on ALBOTAS.
  5. Listen to: Fortune Howl’s Earthbound. Yeah, I can listen to my friend’s music and appreciate their albums on a different level than appreciating their friendship. And this album is fucking solid, friend or not. Fortune Howl (Bryce) has made an incredible sound with his acoustic guitar, laptop, and company (Alex). Solid stuff, listen to it!

Take it easy guys.

A giant-sized, non-transforming Optimus Prime is coming

Facebook user TF Upgrader has posted some new images of Action Toys' new non-transforming Ultimetal Optimus Prime. The figure stands a towers 17 inches tall and features remote controlled lights and sounds, a mouth plate that moves when he talks, diecast parts, and removable parts that show his inner workings. He'll also come with a version of his gun that can be openned up, energon axe, and the Matrix.

Price and release date hasn't been announced yet, but it probably won't be too long from now. I'm not entirely clear if this is officially licensed, but I'm pretty certain it is. At this size it's hard to justify, for me anyway, buying a single Optimus Prime figure that doesn't go with any other figures. Now, if they make a matching Megatron then we've got something.
