Custom Hermit Crab Shells by Aki Inomata

Japanese artist, Aki Inomata, has created a bunch of custom shells for hermit crabs. Some even have windmills on them. I use to love hermit crabs but now I’m kind of scared of them.

Matty Collector has confirmed what many of us had suspected since yesterday: Club Eternia will see 2014, but Club Infinite Earths and the Ghostbusters Movie Masters Ecto-1 were unable to muster enough support to continue. In addition, Matty Collector will be re-opening Club Eternia subs on the reasoning that some fans couldn't afford it in light of subscribing/pre-ordering to the now canceled Club Infinite Earths and/or Ecto-1.

Club Eternia finished at a booming 115% of its target, no doubt resulting from a last minute push from fans who saw the 91% and were fearful for the club's future. The Club Infinite Earths meter has been updated to a 63%, which is presumably its final count. Club Infinite Earths had always seemed to struggle and it deserves some credit for lasting two years. The Ecto-1 pre-order is listed at 38% which, again, I'm assuming is the final tally. Given the slow start, it never seemed like it was going to make it.

The Ecto-1 is completely off the table at this point, but Matty Collector is exploring avenues for releasing at least some of the DC Universe figures. The company discussed possibly releasing them quarterly (which may mean the four/five prototypes at SDCC) or, and here's where it really gets interesting, 12 figures at non-subscription prices across the year. So DCU could be completely a la carte, something with which I expect fans would be okay. The final option would be to do nothing; ie, just let DCU end after this year. Given that I would expect Mattel to at least sell the ones they sculpted, I wouldn't be writing an obituary for DCU just yet... although I had a really nice one penned.

Regardless, a continued Club Eternia means that we're one step closer to an updated Tung Lashor. Make this happen, Matty Collector!

From the anime, Squid Girl, comes the invader herself in capsule toy form. As part of the Capsule Q Fraulein line from Kaiyodo, these figures come in a set of five cellphone straps so you can add a little cuteness to your phone. These cellphone straps also act as fortunes, so each figure represents a different meaning.

The lineup will include Excellent luck: Squid Girl in a maid costume, Good luck: Squid Girl in a swimsuit, Fairly good luck: Squid Girl in a one-piece dress, Kind of good luck: Squid Girl in a yukata and Bad luck: Squid Girl with squid ink. Each figure measures over two inches tall. Coming out in late December, these capsule toys will be US$18.00 for a set of five.

  • 08/20/13--10:32: Fun Around Board Games
  • Dices

As a child, I have always liked board games. Talking about it, takes me back to my childhood. There must be some or other board game that reminds you of your childhood memories too. Game that reflects the same for me is Ludo and Snakes & Ladders. I still remember those happy times, me and friends had while playing.

For me board games were purely for entertainment. It was much later; I got to know the role these games play in the development of children. These games help in building social and emotional, logical and cognitive skills.

Here are my 5 favorite board games-

Monopoly-Monopoly reminds me of the game named “Business”, I played with. It was always fun playing with this property game. The sense of buying properties and dealing with rent collection and mortgages always gave a real feel to it.

Pictureka- This game is all about collecting the object. One has to be either the fastest or the first one to collect. One who collects the maximum number of pictures wins the game.

The Game of Life- This game reminds me of “Wheel of Fortune”. This game is all about spending good times with your family. One needs to spin the wheel and watch how fortune changes their life.

Tic Tac Toe Game- Everybody has played this game a lot of times in their lives. I still remember playing this cut cross game, during my boring maths class. This game is back with a twist for all. It has Disney characters in it, adding more fun for all.

Mickey Snakes and Ladders- This is the most loved and played game for almost all. Our very old Snakes and Ladder game is back to entertain everybody. This time there is Mickey to help you win the game.

We as adults are so engrossed in our lives, that there is no time to play. Though it reminds us of our childhood memories, yet they are just some buried memories. Apart for carving memories for us, these games play even a bigger role in our children’s life. A famous toy designer, Suhasini Paul, has rightly said- “Board games satisfy a child's competitive urge and their desire to master new skills, such as number and shape recognition, grouping, counting, letter recognition, reading, visual perception, color recognition and manual dexterity”.

Happy 20th to Mike Mignola's Hellboy series, which debuted in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2 in August of 1993. Multiversity Comics posted some terrific articles everyone should give a read on the occasion. Here’s a post by them on a rundown on the history of the series, which is very well-written and boasts several awesome pictures.
