In a move that even the blind may have seen coming, the DCU Damian Wayne Robin from the canceled Batman Unlimited retail line has now been added to the 2014 Club Infinite Earths subscription. However, given that Club Infinite Earths is at an abysmally low 33% of its subscription target (at the time of writing), Damian Wayne still looks unlikely to see production.
While many assumed that this announcement would occur at SDCC (given that Larfleeze was previously bumped from retail to online after first being "canceled"), Matty Collector held off for unknown reasons until choosing to announce likely as part of a last-ditch effort to encourage a subscription surge to save the now-floundering line (on a related note, Scott Neitlich put out another video, this time featuring "dancing cats", to promote the pre-orders). In truth, it's probably a prudent move on Mattel's part since there's been a fair amount of fan outcry for Damian Wayne following the news of his cancellation and the hype could help push the club those last few needed extra subs during the closing rush.
That said, Club Infinite Earths may need a miracle at this point. If Mattel has anything -- and I mean ANYTHING -- more to announce that might save their club, now would be the time to do it. Even announcing two or three potential fan-demanded characters could give the club the momentum it needs.
So far the Club Infinite Earths line-up has been announced as Doomsday (club exclusive; two types if both targets are met), Conner Kent/modern Superboy, 90s harpoon-hand Aquaman, Ice, and now the Damian Wayne Robin. The final day for subscriptions is August 19th (Monday) with the results likely going live some point on Tuesday. Those who are interested in Club Infinite Earths' (and the DCU's) continued survival are encouraged to subscribe if they can afford it.
