Don't despair! Here's a preview of Cu-Poche Sayaka Miki!
A blog post from Kotobukiya previewed the latest in their Cu-Poche line of figures: Sayaka Miki of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Her accessories, which include three facial expressions and her four swords, look sparse compared to Madoka (reviewed) and Mami's. I personally think they the should have at least included the charmed baseball bat she used on her first witch hunt but no one asked me. Regardless of choice of add-ons, the figure itself looks wonderful. They perfectly captured her eyes and complex outfit. I especially love that you can see her soul gem peeking out from her shirt!
Also of note was blog post's teaser of the chance of a Homura Cu-Poche in the works.
In the meantime, the Sayaka Cu-Poche will ship in January 2014 and is available for pre-order now for ¥3,800.

The next Real Grade Gunpla is the Strike Freedom Gundam
Speculation had been running rampant as to what would be the next entry into the Real Grade lineup. Following the recent releases of the GP-01, it's time to go back to the Cosmic Era of Gundam SEED with the introduction of the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom.
This really isn't much a surprise given the popularity of Kira and SEED. With Destiny's Remaster currently being released, the star suit was a logical pick for the next entry. A while back, there was an image touting the Strike Freedom as the next RG. Although it was a fake, no one really doubted that Kira's gold-jointed Gundam would be the next entry.
There's no price or release information as of yet. My guess is that it would be released in November for ¥2,500, which has been the pattern for the past RG releases. Now on to making speculation for the wing accessory and DRAGOON effects pack for the Tamashii Web shop!

Master Grade Sazabi ver. Ka coming this December
In another piece of news from the Gundam Front today, a long awaited kit has finally made its appearance. The original MG Sazabi had its release in 2000, people haven't really been happy with it especially when compared with kits of today. For those who have been unappreciative of the red brick, their prayers have been answered with the announcement of the MG Sazabi ver. Ka.
The announcement, like the previous RG Strike Freedom, was rather expected. Ever since the MG Nu Gundam ver. Ka's announcement, people have expected the MG Sazabi ver. Ka to be released this year. The predictions even went so far as to guess the date correctly, with the new Sazabi being released this December, as is customary of ver. Ka releases.
I knew this was coming, I wanted it, and yet I'm still somewhat shocked. It's not a surprise, but it doesn't feel too long until December. There's no pricing as of yet, but this Sazabi is going to be a big kit and will most likely have more parts than the previous one. I'm just hoping for a decent stand that will be able to display the funnels.

Check out Pop Culture Shock's Dhalsim
Pop Culture Shock's latest Street Fighter statue is the master of the Yoga Flame, Dhalsim. The 1/4-scale statue comes with his skull necklace and two head designs (meditative and yelling), "floating" on a flame-like black base. You'll have three different choices as well:
- The regular version, the one you see in the header, is US$335 with a TBD edition size
- The Yoga Flame version, which is limited to 200 pieces at US$340 and adds in a third, Yoga Flame-blowing head that looks really cool. The translucent flame part is really eye-catching
- The Player 2 version, which is the same as the Yoga Flame version, except in Dhalsim's second-player colors of orange and blue.
The two limited edition versions are Pop Culture Shock exclusives, available only on their site (Yoga Flame version; Player 2 version). You can pre-order all three starting at 3 p.m. Pacific (6 p.m. Eastern, 10 p.m. GMT) on Monday, Aug. 5; the pre-order links won't be live before then, so don't even try.

Yellowing Bodies and Something New
I posted this picture on one of the doll boards and the consensus of opinion was that it was from a hair net. I wondered how could this be? I got her several years ago and her hair hasn't been netted for a long time.
Here is an interesting explanation:
It looks like a mark from the rubber edge from a hairnet:
I do repair and restoration of dolls and have seen this before. the rubber in the hairnet edge will deteriorate and before it even does it can make a mark, sometimes not showing up for a while even years. It all depends on the hairnet, and the rubber used, mostly now they wrap the rubber in white poly thread but if the rubber is strongly "unstable" or badly produced (just like the plastic parts of a doll oxidize) it can react and start to seep into the vinyl and may not change color until later, we must remember that plastic, vinyl and rubber are all rather "fluid " materials atomically, and their structure is constantly moving. so what shows up on a surface now may disappear or move inward to the interior or outward to the surface. the color of the mark has distinct properties, green being a color that appears with a stronger copper content, and the rubber used could have been exposed to copper somehow (or brass etc) therefore making the greenish mark. An example of rubber affecting plastic is evident in many dolls like Dawn, that have rubber vinyl legs and plastic hips - they melt into each other sometimes and it really depends on the way the rubber and plastic is batched before being used in a mold part.

This is an Integrity Toys manufactured Gene Marshall.
When does one just give up? I have no more replacement Gene bodies. I've used up all of them replacing deteriorating IT bodies and replacing a few non-articulated bodies on Ashton-Drake Genes.
