Wonder Festival 2013 Summer: Misc Garage Kits (Part 1)
Next up is a look at the kits which either didn't fit into the other categories, I failed to identify or were just too plain weird! I mean, how are we meant to categorise a freaking octopus girl?
Aside from the aforementioned octo-girl, we also get chopstick holders in the shape of a dogeza Miku and assorted other characters and even a vegetable which had become an internet sensation in Japan! No, REALLY!
Check out the gallery and feel free to try to identify some of the more "normal" entries. Unless you really want to see if the disfigured old man or the insect with a minigun actually are from some movie or book.

Wonder Festival 2013 Summer: FREEing
FREEing had plenty of figures to show off at WonFes, and they didn't look half bad. One thing for Evangelion fans (and for the ladies too) was a Kaworu Nagisa figure. He's sensually thrusting his pelvis forward, because that's what Kaworu's all about.
Sword Art Online's Asuna and Silica were both there. They had yet another Sonico, because literally every manufacturer has to put their own take on the character. The Border Break girls can be seen lying down: Hilda, Cheska, Fiona, and Chihiro from left to right. Nakaimo had no less than six representatives: Konoe, Mana, Rinka, Mei, Noritaka, and Fumiyoshi. They are all clad in ribbons, so you'd best make sure your associates know about your hobby before putting them on your shelves. If one imouto fetish show isn't enough, there's also OniAi's Akiko, who's reclining just enough to give you a look at her pantsu. Kannagi's Nagi rounds out that part of the display.
FREEing had an elaborate summer festival-themed display featuring many characters in yukatas. Here you could see old stand-bys like the Fate/Stay Night and Madoka Magica girls, as well as figures from newer licenses such as Sakurasou's Mashiro and Guilty Crown's Inori.
The last item is Hatsune Miku, as interpreted by the illustrator Ittomaru. It's fairly different from her normal look, although not outlandishly so. I'll be interested to see this one in color.

[NSFW] Wonder Festival 2013 Summer: Native
If you don't like mature/hentai figures, turn away now. Native figures are all about catering to the particular needs of males. Otherwise, click through for a (very brief) rundown of what their booth had to offer.

The Trench Coats are Coming – Grifter
Tulabelle: Yeti To Wear
My first impression was a good one. The outfit is well made and comes with great jewelry. In my opinion, this doll is a good value compared to similar dolls being produced today.
In this photo, I put her fur vest on over her hair because it didn't look good on top of the fur. She is standing on her own.
The boots are a very dark plum. They are really nice and balance the doll well. There's a full zipper up the back.
There are four pieces of jewelry. The one I haven't included consists of dark-colored beads and I didn't think is was necessary. I love the earrings, pendant and ring. The clutch bag is lovely. Unfortunately, the doll can't clutch it. I didn't want to put any sticky dots on the purse so she's holding it under her arm.
So we have a great fashion and a doll with a nice body.
The factory coated her hair with a waxy or greasy substance. It can be washed out. What can't be fixed are the weird bangs. They don't lay on her forehead like real bangs. I think she'd be better with a wig.
The real issue I have is with the cartoonish screening of her face. There is no shading - no gradation of tone at all.
I'm wondering if I can use her body with another head - perhaps an AG head or an Antoinette head.
[NSFW] Wonder Festival 2013 Summer: Orchid Seed
Orchid Seed is always difficult to characterize - you might even say they're mercurial. Maybe a third of their figures are wonderfully creative or just plain lavish, and are highly desirable. The other two thirds will cover the other end of the tastefulness spectrum going from "niche collectors' interests" to "they just want to put giant boobs on everything." We pretty much got the full Orchid Seed experience at WonFes.

Wonder Festival 2013 Summer: Medicos Entertainment
Medicos Entertainment hit the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure license. They hit it hard. You'll see plenty of its cast: Gold Experience, Josuke, Soft & Wet, Moody Blues, Leone, King Crimson, (my favorite) Rudol Von Stroheim with the machine gun stomach, and more. I have to say, for a manga with such diverse and insane character designs, they do have a bit of sameface going on.
The sole non-Jojo figure came as a surprise: a figure of Ame, Hana, and Yuki from Wolf Children. Being a Mamoru Hosoda fan, I'm happy to see his work represented in a pretty adorable little figure.
That does it for Medicos; check out the gallery for all of the craziness!

Toon Link and Luigi Nendoroid Toys Acomin’
Avast! From the land of the rising sun’s Wonder Festival comes news that Nendoroid will be making figures based on the cel shaded Link and Luigi. In other new, I’m buying them. There are no product shots just yet, but I’d say the Link one will be out in time for the Wind Waker HD Remix’s release. In the meantime, you can pre-order the Skyward Sword Link Figma here.

Frickin’ Enormous Dunnys
These Dunnys from Kidrobot make even the Mega Munny seem small. Tower over all other toys at four feet, these fiberglass (not vinyl) monsters are made to order. They are part of the new ART GIANTS series and Kidrobot will work with you to connect with an artist and get all 48 inches of toy customized (at an additional cost, I’d assume). They’re $4,999 each with free shipping within the US. Since they’re made to order, they’ll take several months to ship out. If you want to buy one for me, you can get it here.
