Top Tips For Buying Infant Toys

Infant Toys

No two kids are alike. Even it applies to close siblings. One might be busy decorating her Barbie’s closet or braiding her hair, while other would be solving his puzzle, building a Lego or playing with Fisher Price Whistle and go. Like their adults counterparts, even kids develop their own tastes and preferences.

The entire human development offers some guidelines, when it comes to selecting toys for kids. It is a fact that no two kids will benefit from the toy in the same way. But, the toy would be able to teach kids to sit together, throw a ball, and hold a rattle. So it becomes important to select the toy according to the chronological age of the child. One should remember that the toy selected should be a good fit between the toy and the child developmental skill.

The very first stage is the Infant stage. During this stage the most treasured play thing for babies are their mom and dad. They are fascinated by looking at them. They start observing their eyes, clothes, voice. Parents themselves are a high entertainment for the baby. The baby starts exploring and recognizing their surroundings.

Parents during this stage should focus on toys that offer babies to explore new shapes, colors, and sounds. Babies get more attracted to visual and sound effects .Light weight toys like rattles and squishy toys should be encouraged. The ones helping in grasping and holding is a good selection. There are other toys that your baby can play with. Musical toys, Stuffed toys and Activity toys are some toys which help infants learn and have fun at the same time.

Thus, a good fit between the toy and the developmental level is of high importance. A toy that is below a baby’s developmental level will soon become boring. The one that is too challenging will lead to frustration.  So as an adult, see what suits your baby the most.

I ran into Sket One at the Toy Tokyo booth during Comic Con, where he was doing a signing session tied to the release of the new purple Dripple colorway, and ended up chatting with him for a bit about his new project, Bad Juju. The Bad Juju crew already incorporates quite a few artists, and those names include Sket, Huck Gee, The Beast Brothers, TOUMA and Devilrobots. As for what they'll be producing, there will be toys, apparel, accessories, skate gear and much more. It's a project still in the making and Sket is planning it for be to be more artist-driven and global in scope, as in he's hoping to bring in artists from around the world to do what they do best.

As for the Dripple, it's a fun piece; the translucent resin really changes shade with the light. If you want to pick one up, the purple SDCC versions are US$135 in the Bad Juju shop. They're also doing a free T-shirt deal if you register an account on the Bad Juju site.

SDCC 2013: Transformers Thrilling 30

Back at BotCon fans noticed that the Platinum Edition and Masterpiece Transformers figures had an odd number system on them leading up to 30. During the Transformers brand panel at SDCC Hasbro finally spilled the beans on just what this is. Numbered figures from one to 30 will be released in premium formats all around the world, many exclusive to their regions. Some will only be available in North America, others only in Asia. If you're hoping to get all 30 figures it's definitely going to cost you.

The following are the first 12 figures announced at SDCC.

  1. Transformers Generations Titan Class Metroplex SDCC Edition (US$149.99): Exclusive version of Metroplex sold only at SDCC and after the con at HasbroToyShop.com in limited quantities. Features chrome parts, two guns, and a set of 12 red and purple mini figures.
  2. Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Shockwave's Lab (US$49.99): SDCC exclusive diorama set featuring lab components, a Voyager Shockwave in G1-inspired colors, and a clear Cyberverse Commander Predaking. Like with Metroplex, this set will be available in limited numbers on HTS.com.
  3. Platinum Edition Ultra Magnus (US$49.99): Repaint and remold of Transformers Prime Weaponizer Optimus Prime featuring the Forge of Solus Prime. Available in Asia as part of their Children's Day celebration and as a shared exclusive in North America.
  4. Platinum Edition Grimlock vs. Bruticus (US$99.99): Repaints of the Transformers Generations Fall of Cybertron figures. Grimlock features a metallized gold body while the Combaticons are in game-accurate colors. Set will be sold in regions of Asia and as a shared exclusive in North America.
  5. Transformers Metroplex Ani-Con & Game Convention edition (US$149.99): Only available in Hong Kong this figure is identical to the SDCC edition but includes gold and silver mini figures.
  6. Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Shockwave's Lab set (US$49.99): This is nearly identical to the SDCC version, but features an orange Predaking. Sold only in parts of Asia.
  7. First Look Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Optimus Prime (US$59.99): Asia exclusive version of the Beast Hunter Optimus Prime figure made as an early launch incentive.
  8. Transformers Masterpiece Acid Storm (US$69.99): Toys R Us exclusive in both North America and Asia.
  9. Transformers Masterpiece Soundwave (US$119.99): Toys R Us exclusive in both North America and Asia. Complete set includes Soundwave, Laserbeak, Ravage, Buzzsaw, Rumble, and Frenzy plus many accessories.
  10. Transformers Platinums Edition Predaking (US$119.99): Shared exclusive in North America and available all over Asia. Reissue of all five G1 Predacons with a metallic coating.
  11. Transformers Construct-Bots Predacons Rising Predaking set (US$24.99): Target exclusive figure as part of their Predacons Rising series and launches beast figures into the Construct-Bots line. The completed figure will be fully transformable from bot to dragon modes.

The 30th figure in the series was revealed to be none other than Fan Built Bot Windblade and she'll be released in late 2014. Some of the exclusives weren't on display so don't look for them in the gallery. The Titan Guardian figure five-pack isn't part of the series, but it was on the display so it's in the gallery. The other 18 figures have yet to be revealed, but we can probably bet on more Platinum Editions, more Masterpieces, and next year's SDCC exclusives to fill in the bulk of it.

SDCC 2013: 2000 AD/Planet Replicas

2000 AD's booth at San Diego Comic Con was also the home of Planet Replicas, which was an amazing thing if you're a Judge Dredd fan. Planet Replicas has been making some Dredd merchandise, from keyrings and USB drives made to look Rogue Trooper biochips, to custom Judge badges, replica Judge Dredd helmets and the Mk1 and Mk2 Lawgivers. The Mk1 Lawgiver will be coming in mid-September, and the replicas are all 1/1-scale. They'll even make you a complete, full-sized Dredd costume, custom-made to measure (and it's not cheap: you're looking at about £2,000 for one).

Also at the booth was Pete Fowler's Nemesis the Warlock vinyl figure. It's a different look than what 2000 AD fans might expect, but it's definitely Pete's style. This was the first time I'd gotten to see the figure in person, and it doesn't look too bad.

SDCC 2013: Gargamel and Grasshut Corp.

Gargamel and Grasshut Corp. shared a booth once again at San Diego Comic Con, bringing some new surprises with them. The Grasshut side of things saw Bwana Spoons and Le Merde manning the booth, and each had a new piece on display. For Le Merde, it was a new Megalith he did as part of Misty Fog, plus the Zagaturd over at Super7.

For Bwana, he had a new guy named Jeff at the booth, along with the first casts of the new resin Rainbow-billed Pelican pieces. Also hanging out at the booth were the Ectoplasmic Foot Soldiers by Zack Soto, resin figures which had a comic inside the package's header. That header piece also had a dotted tear line on it, so you could open them up easy and get the comic inside.

On the Gargamel front, old friends like Helper and Randall returned in new colorways, plus there were several painted customs of classic Gargamel pieces at their side of the booth. The newest addition were the Nazogacha micro kaiju, which weren't being sold in a gashapon machine as they normally are. Instead, you could pick them up individually blind-bagged at the show, with each piece based on a Gargamel character and the mini-Conifas (the tree-shaped one) being a brand new sculpt.
