Last year Medicom Toy boosted their Real Action Heroes range by putting out a swanky new version of famous angry redhead Asuka Langley Soryuu Shikinami. Predictably she was pretty great, because most Real Action Heroes figures seem to be these days. Now for Summer Wonder Festival Medicom has resurrected Asuka and given her a smart new look.
Based on her appearance early on in the film, the WonFes exclusive trades in her helmet for a track jersey and cat-eared cap, and her determined expression for a distant, disinterested one. They're small changes but I like them a lot, and they give the figure a really different feel. Love that top especially, the real cloth helps it stand out.
Alas, as a WonFes exclusive, this is going to be limited and difficult to get hold of. Asuka will set you back a tidy ¥18,900 and you'll have to pony up for a proxy too. It's sort of a shame Medicom won't simply offer the accessories to existing Asuka owners, but then it wouldn't be much of an exclusive would it? We'll keep you updated as to when orders go live.

New magazine scans show off many figmas in different levels of completeness. The newest ones are Hououin Kyouma from Steins;Gate and the already covered Amy from Gargantia on the Verdulous Planet. Also It has been a while since we last heard about figma #200 which looks to be a remake of the lovely Miku. Last but not least we have a very expressive figma of Hido from Hidarmari Sketch.
I used to not be interested in figmas, till I got my hands on figma Pit which I reviewed. Ever since figmas have been catching my eye and I must say all these prototypes look appealing in their own ways. I'm looking forwards to seeing Houoin Kyouma and Amy shape up. However Miku 2.0 is on the top of my want list.

One of those is CS Moore Studio's Tox, a Mondo-Chi that's been designed by artist Dan Hipp. Those of you who buy him will also get a limited edition Tox Mondo-chi print, plus he's got articulation like all the other Mondo-Chis in the shoulders and neck.
Tox will be available at CS Moore's booth (#2800) for US$25 each. Anyone liking the design of this little dude?

It looks like the animated series Devil Survivor 2 may now coming to a close so I am sure that MegaHouse is rushing to ride the hype wave in releasing their painted figures of Banri and Nitta-san from Devil Survivor 2.
In my opinion Banri is coming along okay and her unique character design is lending herself well to figurine form. However she and Nitta are both looking far too robotic. It's hard to put words on it but I would like to see these two girls look more like girls and less like robots. A little bit more fluidity to the pose would go a long way to help sell these two ladies.

If you like Tony Taka figures, then boy, this month's scans are a treat for you with a trio of ladies. One of the three we've seen before: Kotobukiya's Daisy-chan, joining the Tony's Heroine Collection as a 1/6-scale figure. But the new figures on display are Shining Ark's Velvet Batrass, done beautifully by Alpha Max; and Max Factory's upcoming swimsuit version of Melty. Both do look to be in their summer best, and Velvet is sitting on a chest, showing off quite a bit of leg.
Any of these girls draw your eye, Tomopop readers?
