Preview and pre-order Alter's Shining Blade: Misty
Akibahobby recently got their hands on a review sample of Alter's lovely Shining Blade: Misty 1/8th scale figure and posted up a gallery for everyone to see.
After checking out the gallery myself I can say that those who pre-ordered Alter's Misty are pretty lucky. She's got a great smile and lots of movement. Also Alter has once again worked their magic and managed to make plastic look like cloth with every little ripple, frill and ribbon of her dress. Her base and special effects pieces are also super cool and I like how all the colors, red, yellow, blue, black and white all pop strongly against one another.
Pre-orders for Alter's Shining Blade: Misty sort of slipped under our radar, however I did include some links for everyone's convenience. She comes at a suggested retail price of ¥13,000 and should ship out at the end of this fine month of June.

Preview Alter's Kanna from Ano Natsu de Matteru
It's been a few weeks since we last saw Alter's Kanna at MegaHobby expo 2013. However thanks to Alter's blog we are able to bring you a handful of additional photos of Kanna who hails from Ano Natsu de Matteru.
Alter's Kanna may look to be a simple and small figurine at a glance but there are a lot of little and very cute details you should pay attention to when you look at the gallery of her. First of all and most importantly is her very petite figure and how cutely she is postured. Kanna's clothes from her slightly tight, short sleeved shirt to her wind-blown skirt that is cut just a little bit too short show off her figure well without showing too much.
Kanna's clothing looks so good that I feel like I want to reach out and touch it just to make sure it is not real cloth but infect plastic. Also look at her hair real close, it may be short but you can see all of these amazing individual strands that you don't see on most short haired hair sculpts. It's obvious that in proper Alter fashion every spot on Kana has been paid close attention to.
I know Alter has moved well beyond this, but I am suddenly reminded of Max Factory's guide to posing figmas. It's obvious that Alter has mastered the art of the S standing position with this figurine.
So what do you all think Tomopeeps? Anyone planning on picking Kanna up when she becomes available for pre-order?

It’s a bummer that Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive (since I don’t have a Wii U). But at least we got this photo out of it.

If you were to purchase all the items in this collection, including the wardrobe, the total would come to $289.45 plus shipping and tax. That's not so bad for four dressed dolls, six accessorized outfits and a wardrobe. It's a nice collection but they could have included a darker skinned doll.

Vertex's Mitsuru Kirijou now available for pre-ordering
As promised (and later slightly revised), Vertex have put their rendition of Persona 4 Arena's Mitsuru up for pre-order from all good retailers. She's looking as stunning as ever, and that slightly larger 1/7 scale is sure to make all that detail really pop.
That's the good news. The bad news is she's ¥12,000, which is sure to burn through the bank balance of even the most ardent fan. Still, you can't deny how incredibly impressive she is, so if you're up for taking that hit you can click the links below.

Alter shows off Sword Art Online's Suguha
Sword Art Online is a story filled with awesome character designs. You've got magical knights, dragon tamers, monsters and elven queens, all sorts of wild flights of fancy. Given all that rich potential, it makes sense that Alter would choose their first figure from the show to be a girl in shorts. Wait, what?
Yes, for some unfathomable reason Alter have decided to apply their considerable talent to recreating Suguha Kirigaya, protagonist Kirito's real-world sister, in her real world look. What that means is Alter's typical quality levels applied to a pretty boring jacket-and-shorts combo, a sort of cool base and a really odd pose. Seriously, it's like the sculptor spread her legs, remembered he wasn't making an ero figure, and backed off halfway through, resulting in one of the most awkward looks I've seen in a while. Those enormous seam lines at the shoulders look to indicate replaceable arms though, so maybe we'll get an alternate pose.
There's nothing wrong with the figure per se, and lots of Alter's trademark attention to detail - check out the lovely wood effect on the bench, or the beautifully crafted plate of muffins and juicebox. It's just such an uninspired choice I'm having real trouble getting excited about it. I suppose it's a play for the lucrative 'cute little sister' market but come on guys, you're better than this.
