Hasbro's 2013 SDCC exclusives revealed!
USA Today has spoiled Hasbro's SDCC 2013 offerings. In addition to the previously announced Boba Fett with Han Solo in Carbonite pack (US$50), Hasbro will be selling a DJ Pon (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; US$50),a Marvel Legends Thunderbolts 5-pack (US$90), Glitter ‘N Gold Jem doll (US$140), and a Transformers x GI Joe pack.
DJ Pon, whose packaging rather humorously notes that she's an adult collectible rather than a toy (despite, well, being a pony...), features Swarovski crystals (guess why she costs US$50...) on her glasses and horn. The packaging has a light-up feature to show said crystals off. I like DJ Pon's design, so hopefully she'll see a release that consists of less expensive materials.
The other real headliner might be the Thunderbolts 5-pack. While Hasbro previously released a Crossbones in the Wal-Mart exclusive Nemesis wave and Toybiz did a Luke Cage, this makes the first appearance of Judith Chambers (aka Satana Hellstrom), Ghost, and Moonstone in the 6-inch Marvel Legends scale. Non-comic readers might remember Ghost from his appearances on Iron Man: The Animated Series and Iron Man: Armored Adventures.
The GI Joe vs Transformers stuff doesn't have a listed price point in the article but, given how much there is, I expect it to be pricey. There's a jet painted with Jetfire's color scheme, a jeep deco'd to resemble Hound, Baroness, Ravage, Snake Eyes with an Autobot logo, a Bludgeon-inspired samurai robot, and a miniature boombox with Blaster's deco.
So, is Boba Fett still your top Hasbro SDCC pick or has something here replaced it?

New Monsters U vinyl and Cosbaby sets from Hot Toys
Hot Toys hit us with some rad press releases yesterday - Monsters University Cosbaby figures, and a separate vinyl set of Sulley and Mike are coming soon!
There'll be a Cosbaby for Mike and Sulley of course, and some of their school mates Art, Squishy, Don, and Terry & Terri. Each Cosbaby is about three inches tall, and each comes in a windowed package. For now, these are slated for release in early 3rd Quarter of this year.
The other figures we can look forward to feature some detailed sculpting, with Sulley leaning on Mike, who is standing on a few books. Mike is about 5 inches tall, and Sulley stands about 9. With this set, which is set for release around the same time as the Cosbabies, it looks like you'll also get a movie-accurate paper backdrop for them.

Hot Toys sculptor working on unhelmeted RoboCop head
Hot Toys' RoboCop is an impressive looking figure, but it's missing a little something: an unhelmeted RoboCop, showing off Alex Murphy's face. I'd originally assumed this was due to issues licensing Peter Weller's likeness, but something appears to have changed. Hot Toys' production director and chief painter J.C. Hong posted these two photos to his personal blog, showing off the work-in-progress sculpts of an unhelmeted RoboCop head.
Of course, we don't get to see the face yet, but other details are also unnown. Is there going to be another version of the RoboCop MMS Diecast figure? Perhaps so, but we might be a ways off from hearing about it.

Another look (and more info) on John Santagada's 8-Ball
About three weeks ago, we got a glance at John Santagada/Radioactive Uppercut's new Radioactive Rumblers series, which kicks off with 8-Ball. John has since sent us some photos of the decoration master for 8-Ball, including a full turn around of the figure.
As we mentioned previously, this will be Kickstarted starting in July, but here's some more info. The 4-inch rotocast vinyl figure has been sculpted by Joshua Sutton of ERA Sculpture, and will have ball joints at the shoulders alongside a pivot joint in the neck. He'll come bagged and with a collectible trading card made to look like a comic book cover, and his sale price is going to be US$55.
The list of artists doing customs for the Kickstarter has grown, too: it now includes Ed Long and Damien Glonek, creators of the Living Dead Dolls; Monsterforge; Topheroy; Motorbot; SpankyStokes; D-Lux; George Gaspar; Frank and Martina Russo from MF Gallery; and tattoo artist Tom Connors. More may still come, too, though we won't know those names until the Kickstarter effort begins.
