Sket One's Fall Killer Scarecrow Dunny is not a condiment screenshot

Sket One has a new custom Dunny on the way, and this time, it's not a condiment. Instead, on Wednesday at noon Eastern, he'll be releasing his 8-inch Fall Killer Scarecrow Dunny set. The spooky custom comes with a burlap sack mask (complete with a scary grin), a machete and a hat. The body has a blood-splatter paint design to it as does the mask, for that extra bit of creepiness.

Only 10 of these will be made, each signed and numbered with a fall foliage display mat included. No word on a price yet, but we'll update the post if he hopefully hear one before the release. They'll be available on Sket's store, and I do like this custom a lot more than some of his condiment ones. What do you think?

  • 11/29/11--00:48: Egyptian Props
  • I dropped my mini Egyptian throne and could never put it back together properly.

I've been hunting for a replacement. Tonight I came across a similar chair and other Egyptian miniatures that would be great for dioramas. This is a lovely throne for your royal characters.
It is for 1/6 scale dolls and the measurements are listed as 4.5 x 4.5 x 7.5. That is perfect for Barbie, Fashion Royalty and similarly sized dolls. The price is $23.96. That's the lowest I've seen however they are charging an additional $7.95 for shipping.

The cabinet is very cool. It is called The Goddess Hathor Wooden Curio Cabinet. You can keep all of your miniature embalming supplies inside.

The dimensions are 8 x 12 x 20. It can be used with your larger dolls. Priced at $31.96 with $8.95 for shipping, it is a nice addition to an Egyptian setting.

Click on any image to go to the page where these are described and offered for sale.

Of course you will need canopic jars if you are going to do any real miniature embalming. This set of 3.5 inch resin jars are sure to do the trick.  I think they're pretty cute. The tops do come off. They're only $19.85 and if you order through Amazon with a $25. or higher total, shipping is free.

Finally, the ultimate accessory is The Ark of the Covenant. This one is a perfect size at 5 x 3 x 7.5. You can get this gem for $20.
I don't know what the strap is for. Could it be a yoke for tiny oxen?

The description says it opens to hold your treasures, however I would hesitate to open anything called the Ark of the Covenant

    Didn't you see the movie?

The Japanese term Kawaii [かわいい] has been in urban dictionaries for a while now but its finally made its debut into the Oxford English dictionary.

"kawayusu" [かわゆす] is the short form of "Kawaii Desu" and one can also use the term "Kawaii-ssune" [かわいいっすね].
"Kawaii" is also often written in katakana like [カワイイ].

    Be careful how you pronounce "Kawaii" because if you say it like "Kowaii" [怖い] then it means "scary" ^^;

    Other Japanese terms that have made it to the English dictionary are Bokeh [ぼけ] which refers to the out of focus background in photos and tsunami. I think it will only be a matter of time before "Oppai" makes its debut too ^^;

What other Japanese words do you think should make it into the Oxford English Dictionary?
There is a poll embedded in this article.

Bandai's new Gunpla pre-orders will make you happy & poor screenshot

Thanks, Bandai! You've officially made me broke today with all of your Gunpla pre-orders. January was already shaping up to be a hellacious month, but now it's even worse (or better). There's stuff from Unicorn, AGE, SEED, and the Master Grade I've been waiting quite a long time for.

The pair of Unicorn Gundam Banshee HGUC kits will start off my excitement in January, available in both Unicorn and Destroy modes for 1,600 and 1,800 yen respectively. Gundam SEED will be celebrating its 10th anniversary next year, and as such, will be re-releasing a slew of Gunpla. They already released the 5 GAT-X suits and GINN this month, so January will see the release of the CGue and BuCue, Calamity, Forbidden, Raider, Freedom, Justice, and Providence Gundams. These kits will range from 1,200 to 1,500 yen. In addition, there is one brand-new kit, the LaGowe, which will retail for 1,400 yen.

If you're lucky enough to have the Real Grade Strike Gundam, then you'll probably want to get the new add-on kit. The RG Skygrasper will include the Sword and Launcher Packs, both of which will attach to the RG Strike Gundam. The kit will be priced at 2,500 yen when it's released in February.

Lastly, we have a trio of Master Grades for release. January will see my much-anticipated release of the Gundam Heavyarms for 3,800 yen. February will see both the Duel Gundam Assault Shroud release for 4,200 yen and the Gundam AGE-1 Normal version for 3,500 yen. I hope your wallets and supplies are all in order for the beginning of the 2012 Gunpla campaign.

  • 11/29/11--00:48: BATMAN'S BAT-VEHICLE-MANIA!
  • I started to notice a trend in my PC Bat-Folder so I thought I'd do this "Tribute" post about BATMAN Bat-Vehicles! The 1st photo I'm pretty proud of. This is our friend Darren's CUSTOM 1966 BAT-BOAT! Yeah, he's building this thing in his garage and he has been working on it forever. I mean, he's totally MAKING it! Here's a nice shot to show the wonderful progress he's made so far. It looks like he's started work on the Bat-Fin... Cool!

Next up is an extremely RARE 1960's Japanese Tin Toy Airplane BAT-JET owned by our buddy Bat-Cat in Thailand. This guy has some incredible "Museum Quality" type stuff. I totally love the Vintage Graphics on this thing!!

The Ford Mustang "Custom Batmobile" is a photo shared by a friend on Facebook. I don't care WHO you are, you gotta admit that it's a beautiful Masterpiece of ART, ha!

The last photo is kinda fun and goes back to the "Toys Theme". Here's a totally brand-new product that's just come out. This is the Dark Knight BAT-POD Motorcycle Plastic Model Kit by Moebius Models. I have not built a kit in many many years but this one is tempting me, ha!

  • 11/29/11--00:48: Shop 'til your mouse breaks!
  • I was so tempted to put Strider, Ranger of the North into my shopping cart today. This is one seriously hot doll and he is on sale for $50. with free shipping! But then I remembered that all these $50. (cheap) dolls add up to a goodly amount and I am trying to stop doing that.
However, you can build your Lord of the Rings collection for a small investment.  Arwen, Strider and Galadriel are $50. each.
LESS 20% which comes to an incredible $40 per doll. OMG.

Several other dolls are also reduced but these three are the best deals of all IMO.

Angelic Dreamz' price is only $49.99 compared to $100.79 at Tonner Direct on the 13" Wonder Woman doll.
    ****

Shop around girls and boys and shop wisely. Everyone wants your money!
Remember, there will always be another doll and another sale. Skip 5 sale dolls and you will probably be able to buy one of your grail dolls with what you would have spent on little stuff.
    ****

Time to confess...I did succumb to an outfit at Superfrock today. I bought the crazy "Burning Cookies" ensemble.  Luckily I arrived too late to purchase some of their other sale items as they had already sold out.

And last night I ordered a Madame Alexander Cissette Christmas Trunk Set. It was a great price with free shipping and no tax.  Trunk, dressed doll and two complete additional outfits. Yay!

Oh yes, did I mention that I snagged Geometry last week? Hehe. As a result of my own sales and not buying every sale doll that came along, I was able to purchase my second Sybarite. She should be here any day now.

You all voted for "A" so I went ahead and put the design to production. The softness of the wrist support system is perfect and is designed to cater for wrists of all shapes and sizes. The mirai mousepad can also be used for taking a nap at work.

It has taken a while to get the quality up to what I've been expecting and at last the time and effort has paid off. The reason it took so long was because I wanted the wrist support to be very soft - much softer than other mousepads with similar support systems. The problem is that when they are too soft, the material tends to come loose which makes mirai look 70 and not 17.

You will first be able to buy this at the Anime Festival Asia in limited numbers.
Will soon be available to the rest of the world though online retailers during end of November and is being released under the Culture Japan label.

The market price of most Oppai mousepads in Japan retail at 4,200 yen but I've only managed to get the price of mirai mousepad down to 3,980 yen as I only had budget at this moment to make a small quantity - the larger the quantity I make, the lower the unit price becomes. Am guessing that some retailers may sell cheaper as they do with figures though.

I'll do a separate post on how to work with factories to make stuff and take into consideration things like logistics, taxes, packaging, samples, retailer/wholesalers and pricing strategies.

I do most of my design work in Fireworks and export to PSD. Its annoying that the latest Photoshop does not allow you to save in an earlier version ToT
Decided to keep the box design simple.

And more photos of the sample.

Side by side with Mahiro Tokiwa mousepad.

    "Itadakimouse"

The wrist support system can also be used for chopsticks.

And these are the box photos from the factory.

Just received a photo from Singapore - the Mirai Mousepads have just arrived! Currently shipping some off to the US and Japan. Will let you know when you can order them. There will be no pre-order period so you can just order and wait for it to be shipped.

And everything below is the previous post where I asked you which design you preferred.

So I was finalizing the design for the new Mirai-chan mousepads but DMYO-sensei sent through the illustration for the dakimakura which fits nicely in the mousepad template. Which do you prefer?

This version wasn't originally illustrated for the mousepad which is why her head is cut off quite a bit. I prefer "A" myself.
